The South Burlington Career Fire Fighters Local 3671 became chartered with the International Association of Fire Fighters in 1994. The Bargaining Unit consists of six Fire Fighters and three Lieutenants. The rank of Captain is not included in the Bargaining Unit, however the three positions play an active role in the Local.
Members of the Local work out of two fire stations in the City. Fire Station One is located on Dorset Street and provides approximately 1200 responses per year. Fire Station Two is located on Holmes Road and responds to around 800 calls per year. Both fire stations provide medical coverage to the City with the addition of defibrillators in 1997 and ambulance service in 2004. The City of South Burlington has a residential population of approximately 15,000, with a daytime population of over 40,000. This community is one of the fastest growing communities in the State of Vermont.
Local 3671 continues to support causes throughout the area. These include the annual MDA Local 3671/3044 Golf Tournament, St. Anne's Shrine, Brian Trudo Family Trust Fund, American Heart Association Project Heart Start, South Burlington Youth Baseball and others, with the philosophy of giving back to the community that we proudly serve.
